FUT13 Glossary

In Form. An upgraded version of  a regular player, available for a limited time in the weekly TOTW. SIF and TIF represents second in form and third in form.

A hybrid team is constructed from players from different leagues (e.g. Serie A and BPL hybrid). Building hybrids around different themes is popular hobby of FIFA Ultimate Team players.

A hybrid team with Serie A and Barclays Premier League players

Cardweight is a metric used by UltimateDB to estimate how often a particular card is traded on the FIFA Ultimate Team marketplace. See the blog post on cardweight for more explanation.

Team chemistry is measured by the green links between a team’s players on the squad screen. Visually, links can be black (no chemistry), dark green (some chemistry) and bright green (good chemistry). Numerically, each player is assigned chemistry points. Chemistry is determined by a player’s formation and position and their link to similar players (same nationality, same league, same nationality and league, same formation)

Team of the Week. Each week, EA Sports selects a team of players from the week’s best performing players in real life. These players are upgraded with a special IF version which them becomes available in packs for a limited time – typically one week.

Similar to the team of the week, but represents the team of the year. TOTYs come in two flavours – the first is the official World XI as announced by FIFA each January for the previous’s year’s best performers. The second TOTY comes at the end of each league’s season and represents the team of the season for each respective league – e.g. a Ligue 1 team of the season.

Man of the Match. In March 2012, EA Sports released orange colored MOTM cards. MOTM cards are awarded to a single outstanding player per week (eg. MOTM Ivica Olic during TOTW 30). The difference between the orange-colored MOTM and the black-colored TOTW cards is the MOTM is only available during an extremely limited window – typically the Happy Hour period. This makes these orange colored MOTM cards even rarer than their TOTW counterparts.

A nickname for silver Brazilian players. Their popularity comes from the large number of highly rated silvers – usually with high pace and/or 5 star skills.

Not In Form. Used to avoid confusion between an IF version and non-IF version. “Who is a better player? NIF Aguero or Torres?”

Acronym for Microsoft Points, the official virtual currency for XBOX Live.

Bid Bumping

Also known as price jacking or bid jacking. A scamming technique where a hugely inflated bid is placed on an auction item in the hope that a legitimate bidder using the FUT Web App (which does not ask you to confirm your bid) bids on the item

Used to describe extremely (from the perspective of the user) cheap play styles. Primarily ‘sweaty’ teams with high pace and/or ‘sweaty’ goals (i.e. cutbacks).

SIF stands for second in form, as in the second time that player has received an inform TOTW version.
